Complex C and C++ programming problems

I have 25 years of programming experience in a wide variety of programming languages and operating systems, 13 years with C and C++. I have created several embedded and PC based programs/systems, many of them milti-threaded, to solve a variety of complex problems. I am an excellent problem solver with clear and logical thinking that gives me the ability to create and/or trouble shoot very complex systems. I specialize in the type of work that is beyond the ability of the typical engineer or programmer to solve - where you really need that "superstar" to get it done.

Aviation Data Systems - Ground based: Flight Recorder Data and FOQA

I have 21 years of experience in managing aircraft data through my work with several aerospace companies. I have considerable experience designing ground based data analysis systems ranging from relatively simple Windows based report generators, to multi-user minicomputer real-time analysis systems, to complex scalable DBMS base FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance) systems. I also have considerable experience in the deployment of such systems. I can help you to use many of the AlliedSignal/Honeywell ground support tools such as ADRAS, AFW, VADAR, ART, etc. (I either designed them or maintained them for years). Avionics Data Systems - Airborne: CMU, DMU, MCDU

I have over 10 years of experience in designing, troubleshooting, and implementing avionics systems. I did considerable work updating the Allied Signal/Honeywell Data Management Units (as well as the ground tools for reconfiguration and data processing for the DMU's) and have designed and implemented a ARINC 758 CMU and ARINC 739 MCDU. The CMU interfaces to a variety of standard avionics systems based on ARINC specifications (429 data busses, 716 peripherals, 750 radio, 740/744 printer, etc.). I am very familiar with a several ARINC and ICAO specifications.

Avionics Communications - VHF Data Radios, ACARS, AOA, AVLC

I have over 5 years experience as Senior Systems Engineer, Chief Applications programmer, DSP programmer, and VHF Data Radio "expert". Working with a team that consisted of a program manager, an electrical engineer who designed the power supply and microprocessor based circuit cards, a senior software engineer who integrated the RTOS and created the hardware drivers, a senior RF technician in charge of the radio hardware and manufacturing interface, and myself who designed and programmed the user database, applications, and radio DSP code. Radio design, mechanical packaging, CAD, PCB assembly were generally subcontracted. As senior systems and applications engineer I oversaw the integration with the radio as well as the system qualification testing at ARINC, Inc.

Microsoft Windows based PC's

I have been building my own computers since 1975 (when 4 mHz CPU's were cutting edge and 16 K of RAM seemed like a lot!). I am very knowledgable about PC architecture and Windows, upgrading, networking, routers, internet, etc. If I don't know, I have many industry connections where I can find out. If you have a complicated system to design, or some difficult problems to track down I'm your guy.

Web Design

Having been in the computer industry for 25 years I saw the internet grow from nothing to what it currently is today. I have created several web sites and am also becoming conversant in web automation tools. My preference is to create my web pages using HTML verses Front Page like tools as I feel it affords me better control of the content and HTML is a natural extension of my programming expertise. I find cluttered web pages anoying so my goal is to create pages that are clean and straight forward to use. If that matches your idea of a good web page give me a call.
